Donkey rescue:
🎄 A Christmas miracle in Terre Blanche 🎄

💝A wonderful human experience 💝

It is with great emotion that we would like to share with you the exceptional rescue operation of a member of our Clearing Brigade that took place at Terre Blanche on Sunday 10 December 2023.

The incident began when the Internal Security Service was alerted to the disappearance of a young colt, a female born just six days earlier. 

⏳ A race against time

A rescue team was quickly put in place, helped by Mr Barreca, a local beekeeper, who immediately volunteered to lend a hand and provide his camera. Thanks to him, the animal was found in a 6 to 7 metre deep sinkhole. The exact circumstances of the fall remained unknown, but the urgency was clear: the little colt was alive and in need of immediate help.

The seriousness of the situation required the rapid intervention of the Service Départemental d'Incendie et de Secours (SDIS), as well as the support of local partners. The Pugnères company generously provided a mechanical shovel for the operation, and Mr Pugnères fils personally joined the effort. Meanwhile, A l'Eau Fuites and A l'Eau Réseaux contributed a mini-excavator and jackhammer.

🙏 More fright than harm

After six hours of intensive digging work, marked by a spirit of collaboration and determination, the donkey was safely extracted from its precarious position and immediately took refuge with its mother. 

✨ A Happy Ending ✨

The fireman who played a key role in extracting the animal, Sylvain, was celebrated as the hero of the day! In his honour, she was affectionately named Sylvaine, creating an unbreakable bond between the rescuer and his little protégée.

It was a fantastically successful operation, made possible by the combined efforts of all the teams involved! This event is a powerful reminder that, even in the face of the most unexpected challenges, solidarity and teamwork can achieve real miracles.
